WHO Am I

I am a fun- loving, laughter inducing - country girl from Tennessee who transplanted herself in West Texas in 2007 and has proudly made this my home. I enjoy taking walks, watching movies, listening to all kinds of music and spending time with my friends, silly cat, and boyfriend. I love trying new foods and exploring unique and historical cities in Texas. I am an avid sports fan. Needless to say, my favorite season is fall because of the crisp rejuvenating air and of course, the beginning of FOOTBALL season!!!

What is Counseling Like With Me

I want those who chose to be in counseling with me to feel as comfortable as possible, to be themselves, and to share in developing a plan of action.

I specialize in eating disorders and body dysmorphia , couples therapy, anxious and depressive mood disorders, and I have extensive experience working with postpartum depression and disorders occurring in the geriatric population . While I understand talking to someone you don’t know can be uncomfortable at first, I strive to make those first few sessions as stress free as possible and my motto is, “I will not ask someone to share something that I am not willing to share myself”. I believe that making the client feel safe and comfortable is one of the most important assets of a therapist. I often use a mixture of Client Centered Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I believe that humor is also very healing so…be prepared to laugh sometimes! We might get into some heavy and difficult topics, but I like to tell clients that sessions can change and evolve like seasons…my suggestions is to “hang in there and we will embark on the journey together!” I consider myself to be a very empathetic and compassionate person. I try to “walk in your shoes” so I can develop empathy and make that emotional connection.

I usually end with a short recap of the day’s session and make sure that you are comfortable going home …this ensures stability and again, that safety I mentioned earlier.
